About:
A member
of HCCS’ full-time faculty since 1992, Kay Lynn Moran has won numerous awards
for her contributions to developmental education.
She serves as chair of Guided Studies and Teacher Education at HCCS-Northeast
where she teaches education courses. Ms.
Moran has been honored as HCCS-NE Teacher of the Year and Outstanding Faculty
Member. She has also received the
HCCS Chancellor’s Award of Excellence. In
2001, while serving as Texas College Reading and Learning Association president,
she acted as site chair for the Texas College Academic Support Programs (CASP)
annual conference, which was hosted in Houston by HCCS.
She has also served as the CASP newsletter editor.
She has received several grants, including the Bedicek Grant and the Carl
Perkins Title II Partnership of Quality Education grant.
She has also received national recognition as a recipient of the
Outstanding Developmental Educator Award from the Kellogg Institute and has
worked on a start-up project grant at HCCS for an Alternative Certification
Program for teachers.

Botts, Chyrell
University

After
teaching English-as-a-Second-Language courses in Germany for 22 years, Chyrell
Botts joined the Guided Studies faculty at HCCS-NE.
A full-time HCCS instructor since 1999, Ms. Botts teaches courses in
reading and study skills.

Azucena
Endrinal has taught at HCCS since 1994, four years as an adjunct instructor at
the Northwest College and at Northeast College since 1998.
She teaches courses in reading and study skills.

Paulette
Heidbreder has taught reading and study skills courses full-time at HCCS-NE
since 1996 and in 2001 began teaching study skills on the Web.
A former newspaper reporter and college journalism teacher, Ms.
Heidbreder likes to incorporate current events and journalistic-type projects in
her classes. In 2000, she was
honored as an Outstanding Faculty Member at HCCS-Northeast and received the Ann
Falkner Scholarship from the Texas College Reading and Learning Association.
She belongs to several writers groups and state developmental educators
organizations.
