Goals and Objectives

The Northeast Learning Center has three functions:

  1. Service to students
  2. Training
  3. Research and Program development.

The mission of the Center is to help students become more independent, self-confident and efficient learners so that they are better able to meet HCCS's academic standards and successfully attain their own educational goals.

The mission has six goals:

  1. To assist learners to learn by providing accessible environments for a dynamic interface with equipment, materials, and learning facilities.
  2. To prevent learning failures and to increase learning sophistication in personal learning skills be providing programs and services for learners to "learn to learn."
  3. To recruit and train personnel for the Learning Center programs and services.
  4. To publicize programs and services of the Center to Northeast students, faulty, staff, and administration.
  5. To continue to adapt the Learning Center to the needs and expectation of Northeast College consistent with the articulated goals and available resources of the institution.
  6. To demonstrate the viability of the Learning Center as a campus agent in developing and implementing approaches to learning and instruction that are individualized, personal, cybernetic, mathemagenic, and accountable.
